Feeling Special

Oh my gosh....this week, I just know it, is going to go SO SLLLLLOOOOWWWW!!! There are almost 2 more days until the families start to arrive for Christmas!! I can't wait!!

So, I got home from work today and plopped myself down on my bed and got back onto the computer. I don't really have anything left to do for the holidays and so I'm actually kind of bored....so hence, I've updated my blog. :)

Well....a light of fun came as my phone rang, and it was Emily. When I asked her what she was doing, she replied "Playing Santa. Are you home? We are coming over!".

Less than a minute later, Emily and Camille pulled up and delivered me the most wonderful, hand-made, Christmas gift. The two of them got crafty and created some jewelry trees...complete with a new set of hand-made earrings! Even better, Camille proceeded to put up a bunch of my earrings on it for me. So sweet!!! I just love this idea and think that it's perfectly delightful!!

I also had the joy of sharing my Christmas magnets with them and had them take a few of their favorites with them. Yippee!! :)

Ok....so, other highlight of the night.....I opened my mail....and was rewarded with a fun present from United. Seems that I flew quite a bit this year.....and all since June when I started working (and traveling) with AppFolio. I got to Premier status in 7 months - woohoo!!


I don't think it really gets me much....but it's an accomplishment that I thought I'd share! :) Come fly with me!

The stockings were hung by the chimney...

As I was leaving this morning to go outside to meet Brett for church, I noticed that Molly found a new spot to curl up....on the fireplace on the Christmas pillows.

Before she could move from that cute, cuddly, spot, I snapped a few pics on my phone.


She was still in the same spot when we got back after brunch, but then quickly left that spot for one closer to the two us as we curled up on the couch to relax for the rest of our Sunday.

I made the magnets as Brett fell asleep watching some football. It was the perfect lazy Sunday afternoon.

Late afternoon, we got on a kick and rearranged my bedroom. I am not sure what possessed me to want to swap it around....but I'm rather happy with the way it turned out!!

Today.....we went grocery shopping. Yes, it's blog worthy. I didn't take any pictures.....but it was quite an undertaking. I've been excited about planning a ton of meals for next week when our families come into town for Christmas...so today, I finally convinced Brett that it wasn't TOO early to get all the groceries. :)

After shopping, and then rearranging the refridgerator and pantry to make everything fit, we went over to Brett's to hang out for a bit. We watched a Brian Regan DVD and then ended up on a Buck Rogers movie of sorts.

They were great background noise for me while I worked on a little project that I'd been wanting to start and complete. I wanted to make some Christmas magnets but didn't know where to start for designs. I found a few images to start with as inspiration, and then it just blossomed. I had so much fun drawing all these fun little Christmas inspired designs in my design program. Tomorrow I'm going to print them and turn them into glass magnets for friends!


I can't decide which one is my favorite...but it might be the doves on the polka dot backgrounds! :)

Who knew Helvetica was everywhere?

We met up with some of the work folk this evening to bid farewell well to Linn. She's decided to be a stay at home Mom to little Jackson and we're all happy for her!! I'm going to miss her at the office. I'm the only sales girl left out of our team now. It's me and the 7 boys. I'm so thankful that Danielle is working with me now so that there are still other wonderful girls there with me!! :)

Afterwards, Brett and I came back to my place to watch a documentary. I'd seen it mentioned earlier this week by Todd and it peaked my interest. It is called Helvetica and if you are familiar with that term.....yes, it's a documentary about type face/fonts.

It is super dorky but I loved it. It's so funny to see how emotional people can get about their fonts.

But....already, I find myself noticing the MANY places where the very classy, plain, standard font is used in everyday design. Check out some of the very well known logos that use Helvetica. The e and the s are the two characters that give it away!

Blush Ladies

I love getting together with my girlfriends. There are a lot of holiday parties going on right now.....most of them where one person is doing a lot of work, and it's almost too hard to visit.

So, I thought I'd invite us all out for a little night to get together, celebrate our friendship, and for not one of us to have to do too much work to make it happen.

We met up at Blush and had a good time chatting and getting caught up, getting to know new people, and just enjoying each other's company.

Carrots for the Birthday Girl!

Today was LB's 26th birthday.....and so we did a little surprise celebrating for her tonight. Benny took her out for a nice dinner on the town, and then when he brought her back to the casa....we had the lights off, the candles lit on the cake, and hid in the kitchen.

As soon as she walked in, we jumped out of the kitchen and yelled "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!". I think we actually accomplished our mission, and surprised her.

Thanks to Roth for making the yummy carrot cake and for getting us together for a little celebration!

Did you hang your avocado on the tree yet?

Brett and I went to Camille's Ornament Exchange Party tonight. Camille outdid herself with all the food she prepared....it was unbelievable!! Well, not so much for a chef....but she put together a great party and had some real tasty treats for all of her guests to enjoy. She is definitely the hostess with the mostest!!


There were 32 people involved in the exchange, and there were some super interesting ornaments....ornaments to be used very lightly to describe some of the gifts. I ended up with an avacado with a paper clip stuck in it. Interesting indeed!!

Nonetheless, it was a great and fun night!!! Thanks to Camille for hosting!! :)
